Unearthed

For at least the last ten years or so there's been a family crypt in the local churchyard that has been boarded up and allowed to grow wild.

This week they've removed some of the boards and cut all the undergrowth down.

We squeezed through and it's a small space with a tree that's sprung up in the middle and while most of the headstones are badly damaged this is a section of a relief that's still intact. It still looks beautiful but the graffiti and the fact that it's in a very quiet corner probably tells you why it was boarded up in the first place.
