up in smoke
Ma-in-Law had hundreds of photographs - images of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren - accumulated over the years as every visitor brought something for her to remember them by.
The dilemma facing Anniemay and her sisters was what to do with them when they cleared out her flat. They can't be recycled (because of the chemicals in them), we didn't want them buried in landfill so they were cremated after Mollymay read an article by a woman who had faced this very problem.
This afternoon, some of the family gathered in our garden to burn these images and send them off with a bit of respect and ceremony. It was surprisingly therapeutic. And liberating.
