One of our Coots

I took today’s picture of this Coot before we went to Cambridge. I had seen some small wildfowl on the pond, but they were scooting about so fast I could not get a picture; they were ducklings. Baby Coots have not yet appeared. As usual, this was taken out of the kitchen window looking towards our pond at the bottom of the orchard.
 
My husband was attending a meeting in Cambridge, where some research is being carried out on a device related to replacement hips and knees. I went shopping while he attended the meeting.
 
Afterwards we had lunch and did a bit more shopping before coming home.
