World Tour ?

The Tour de Yorkshire came to Ilkley today and llkley came to watch.
We started by doing the uphill walk from Ben Rhydding to watch the finish of the women’s race at the Cow and Calf Rocks.
We were there in good time and it was then l took my shot of this cyclist and his daughter enjoying ( if you could enjoy cycling up that climb!) the traffic free road.
The enthused crowd made a lot of noise as the hardy riders finished the race on the summit.

We called into Rebecca ‘s for a bit of lunch then walked into Ilkley to watch the conclusion of the men’s race 3km from the finish, once again on the summit at The Cow and Calf.

The town was, by this time, heaving and there was a terrific atmosphere with everyone of all ages enjoying the event.

It’s so hard to explain the thrill of seeing a mass of cyclists speed pass after waiting for hours for the to arrive but thrilling it was.

I couldn’t decide which photographs to use for extras so l’ve made a collage to try and capture the flavour of the day.

Home now and watching the highlights on TV and once again thinking what a beautiful part of the world we live in.
