A large family!
Thursday
The day started under sunny skies, but the clouds soon moved in, and we knew there was the chance of rain and thunderstorms in the afternoon. We had to go out after breakfast to get a form notarized, then Roger suggested we could go and check out Barber Lake in Newtown, a site that had been suggested to us by a couple of birders the other week when we were at Fernald. It turned out to be a bit disappointing for bird life, to our untrained eyes and ears. There was one lone unidentified bird in the middle of the lake, but other than that it was two Canada geese families, swallows and red-winged blackbirds. You can see the little waves on the surface of the water in my Blip, which was taken early in our walk, but as we walked around the lake, only 1 1/2 miles, the wind really picked up, and the sky became darker, and we wondered whether we would make it back to the car before it started to rain! Fortunately we did, but we hadn’t gone very far before the rain came, and it was quite a downpour, though it didn’t last too long. We then went to the “Y” for a swim - I did my usual 50 laps, though the last 10 were a bit of a struggle today for some reason, and it took me a couple of minutes longer than usual. It dried up later in the afternoon, and Roger was able to get out and do some gardening before we went out to handbell and choir practice early evening.
