Long, long ago, in a land far away......
...........the spirits of the wood used to be visible on Halloween.
What rubbish, but here is my walking friend, P, posing in a hollow tree and doing his best impersonation of a gnome. I've done my best to enhance the image too.
The route of our Wednesday walk was changed due to the terrible weather forecast. Instead of venturing north of the Wall and returning into the teeth of the wind and rain, we repaired to the South Tyne Valley. It was a good choice because the autumn colours in the woods were stunning. Some came close to being blipped. In the end the Green Man of the Woods won out.
I won't mention the bit of the walk where D, the leader, made a small error and we were faced with climbing a dry stone wall. This is not a recommended action, especially when there is barbed wire, but, after a few uncertain minutes and several dark mutterings, a gate was found. I'm not mentioning it because D reads the blips :-) His reputation for muddy/very wet/exciting/challenging walks remains intact.
