The future is bright ...
On a gloomy evening, in a dark church, there is nevertheless a sense of excitement as the Vestry of Holy Trinity emerge from a meeting to plan future development of the land around the church, some of which has recently been given to the congregation for just such a thing. At the moment, we hold our meetings in the tower room, which sounds romantic enough but is actually only just above primitive (there is electricity ...). The Sunday School also do their thing there. The only toilet facilities are a Portaloo outside the porch.
It's a wonderful thing to look at what is possible when you have the right space, close enough to the church to be useful, and the right attitude to growth. The darkness of the church itself as we emerged has always felt friendly to me; its stillness contrasted with the energy of our discussion and yet was the driver for it. And as I went out into the rain and looked over the graves to the land that is now ours, I was aware of a new era beginning.
That damp graveyard, with the mist and rain advancing down the wet hillside in the dusk, is the subject of my extra photo!
