Modern “Highland clearance”

Up to Perth for a most enjoyable lunchtime get together with old friends. 
 
But every time we pass through Blackford I am reminded of the reason why the surrounding countryside is devoid of farmhouses, cottages, sheep and cattle.
 
 
The Arab owners removed them in order that the Highland Spring water, the company they own which takes water from these hills, should be “pure”.
 
   
Its been called the “modern Highland clearance”- sheep removed to make way for water.
