Leaving Goathland
We woke up to sunshine this morning which was a change from recent days. As we had visitors staying it was an opportunity to have a day out. We started at Ravenscar and had a look at the ruins of the Alum Works. The works were active from 1615 to 1862. After a light lunch at the tea rooms we drove to Goathland station which is on the North York Moors Railway. Goathland's claim to fame is that it was 'Aidensfield' in the TV programme 'Heartbeat'. Also the station became 'Hogsmeade Station' in the first Harry Potter film. I have added an extra showing a couple of old signs and an original lamp.
As I was presenting a talk to Bishopthorpe Camera Club this evening we found a very nice pub restaurant in Malton beforehand.
Back blip as by the time we got home it was just after 10.30 pm.
