May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii

I really enjoy going down to Kapiolani Park and experiencing the Lei Day celebrations - and I never seem to make it to the second venue in front of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel for the music.   However, the bandstand next to the lei displays was a treat.   Halau (hula studio) after halau were entertaining - from keiki (kids) to kupuna (elders) and everyone in between.  Food for sale and other crafts spread out around the bandstand.  
But then (naturally) I went over to the beach and enjoyed the view.  Took fotos of the sky and boats going slow in almost no wind, a drummer using an electric box and coconut trees for percussion, waves washing over a stone donut, and incoming waves meeting outgoing waves or crashing up against the wall.  By 7PM it was still relatively light.

Extras are:
1.   Billboard provided to take fotos in front of.  I've included Diamond
      Head in the background.   Really nice idea, I thought.
2.   Drummer using coconut trees as well as the electrical box.
3.   The sky off Waikiki.  Some clouds had already begun to set down on
       the horizon.
4.   Aloha shirt, beautiful hat lei, and gaudy backpack.   Those niihau shell
       lei around his neck are expensive and beautiful.
5.    Kupuna (elders) dancing a hula in honor of the magnolia blossom
       (one tucked behind her ear).   The whole lineup exemplified grace, 
       poise, kolohe (rascal) and joy.
