2018 Monday — Lunch with Friends
Patricia has been hoping to get us all out for lunch since last autumn, and today that lunch happened.
Patricia is sitting across the table from me and our friend Jane is sitting across the table from Mr. Fun. We spent a good portion of our time together helping Patricia learn to use the texting device on her iPhone. I’m not sure she grasped the method but we’re all committed to continuing to help her. I think Patricia is 86 years old, so I think she is doing well just to be using an iPhone at all.
It’s been several years ago now, that Patricia sold her lovely custom built home to purchase a home with her daughter and son-in-law. Their new home is approximately 10 miles from Patricia’s old residence.
I think Patricia really regrets doing that. She is alone all day long because her daughter and son-in-law leave early in the morning and don’t get home from work till 7:00 in the evening. And now her daughter has had her mom (Patricia) get tested for dementia and she is in the early stages. Her driver’s license has been taken arrive, so Patricia doesn’t go anywhere unless someone comes to see her or to take her somewhere.
Friends are immensely important. Lunch was a very good time.
