Circles
One of the local refugee families, assisted by another, undertook to produce a banquet for friends and supporters. They got up at 3.30 am to start preparing but it was all cooked and created in a small community kitchen that was not designed for mass catering.
Chicken, kibbeh, falafel, hummus, tabbouleh, salads, cake and sweet pastries were rolled and wrapped and filled and whizzed and mixed and baked and fried and chopped and sprinkled and spread and served on long tables for an eager gaggle of guests who, after a few short speeches of thanks and congratulation, descended like gannets upon the feast.
Over the past year several communities in West Wales have extended a hand of friendship and support to refugee families; this was a magnificent gesture of reciprocation.
