Momma Merganser and Her Kids

I went to Huntley Meadows Park in Northern Virginia this morning and was delighted to some surprises including a Merganser and her children, a pair of Northern Flickers, a Green Heron, and a Prothonotary Warbler.  

I was really surprised that the Merganser let her children get so close to me but I'm not complaining!  See today's extra photos for a shot of one of the baby Mergansers taking a bath, some Northern Flickers being "lovey", and a Green Heron.
