summertime

for the most part, when we say that a season is our favorite, we're not necessarily talking about the said time period, but rather the what we associate with it. 

for example, when i say that i love summer i am not talking about ninety days of a year when it's usually hot and dry, but rather my memories of those days: the people, the beach, the sea i have been exploring for the past decade and the small wooden boat i have been doing so with. i'm saying i love the cool night sky with its frisky stars, and the campfire underneath with old friends around it.

but then again, when i say i love summertime, i might as well just be referring to the song by janis joplin.
