Mummified tulips

I can't really remember how long I've had these tulips - they've sat in a vase on the piano gradually mummifying in the most interesting way, too pretty to discard. I thought they might come in handy for a rainy day, and as it was both damp and cold today, they have served their secondary purpose. 

I've bought a replacement set today and hope that they will also age gracefully. Heavy rain is predicted for tomorrow - with unseasonably low temperatures so I may have to find another EB - could be fresh tulips!
