Before the Machine

I was being shown how to check the output of our community turbine, but as we approached The Machine I noticed how noisy it was.  According to the control panel the wind varied between 7 and 10 m/s (about 15 to 20 knots) and the blades were swishing like a good 'un.  Inside the tower the noise was magnified by the structure and I wouldn't want to work inside for many minutes without ear protection.

Of course the noise dropped away markedly outside about 50m distance.
