All its contemporaries have long faded and gone. It was, duly, potted and replaced (approx in situ, so as not to lose)
It seems that, apart from intentional breeding, many new varieties start life as either a "Foundling" or a "Sport".

I ought to add, having said I was no great fan of doubles; I have seen/bought one recently and if this one becomes a late flower-er, I'll be well chuffed.
