Spring Treats

The high bird feeder had more action than usual this afternoon, with both female and male flickers enjoying the offerings, as did a crow, several Stellar's Jays, chickadees, towhees, and others -- not all at once, of course!

I noticed a pitiful chirping sound at one point and spotted a fledgling male flicker (see extra) on the deck rail making it clear that he was very hungry indeed! Wisely, his mother (perhaps today's blip subject?) left him to his own devices, as he was certainly big enough to feed himself.

The rain let up late in the afternoon, and I hope the clear weather prevails tomorrow.
