Mergansers on the Run

I've learned to have my camera set and ready for action and speed when I see mergansers.  They almost always take off in flight when they spot me, no matter how far away I am.  It's a bit of a game... How close can I get before they see me and how fast can I track their escape.

Today it took a beat or two before these two decided to flee... Brave little ducks. :)  Which afforded me the time to get a calmer shot as well (see extras).  From here it was a  quick pivot and bang, they were off.
