A Monkey's Tale

Autumnwatch

And that was seemingly what was my main task today on the second 'first' day of my new job.

I arrived for 9.30 sharp at the offices, eager to finally get started after a week of seemingly unexplained delays. Today we would hopefully get crackin' on the new project that had been mentioned in relation to our roles with Lloyds.

Well, after such promise, the day did not pan out even remotely similar.. We did manage to get our photo's taken for our passes which was a good start & already bettered last week's first 'first' day when the camera wasn't working. After that though things took a bit of a nose dive. When me & another new temp were taken to out department, we were greeted with blank faces, which was encouraging. We then had problems with our passwords & logging on. After some time, a large amount of faffin, & a few phonecalls, we got in! Small victory.

I then got locked out of the training site & was told that I wouldn't be able to get back in for 2 days, marvelous. So, whilst my colleagues were busy doing.. whatever it is they do, & my co-new temp was studying for the training tests, I was essentially twiddling my thumbs & watching the leaves & sky turn autumnal shades. We did however have a number of talks from a more experienced temp & got the lowdown on the business & how we fit into the bigger picture. It was insanely boring at times, reminded me of University & when I napped (at least) once during a lecture; I had to concentrate most on not falling off my seat. It's not that I'm not interested but I just want to get started & shown what to do, rather being given a long spiel on general information. Also when someone speaks for an hour & then says, 'but you don't need to know or remember any of that', it kind of kills your motivation. To top it all off, they got my surname wrong on the system, very professional don't you think.

Anyway, it was only the first day & I think things will improve. I think I was expecting quite a lot, but it's just going to be more of a slow-ish & slightly sporadic process getting there than I prepared for.

The day was also staggeringly tiring, hence me not having the strength to blip on the day, for which I am eternally sorry.

Some sad news to report on too, one of our chickens was discovered bereft of life & she now rests in peace in the garden. It only now dawns on me that I had a rather tasty chicken curry for dinner tonight (last night) & not only does this seem rather disrespectful considering the particular circumstances, but it also seems quite suspect too. Did I mention Mick had made the curry?!

On a lighter note, I found a recreational park whilst on my lunch & saw this beautiful scene with it's warm, glinting light & colours.

It reminded me to always look on the brighter side.
