Wood Melick

A long day out to survey some woodland in Surrey. I travelled by train to avoid the horrors of the M25, which also gave me time to read a considerable  proportion of my current book.

The weather forecast had predicted light showers from 3pm onwards, but instead there were heavy showers from midday, which meant it was a rather soggy visit. I'd forgotten how beautiful Surrey was - I'd caught the wood at the perfect time and there were swathes of wood anemones, bluebells, primroses, wood-sorrel, hairy wood-rush, and my favourite woodland grass, wood melick.
