Brighton

Went with friend down to Brighton, had a pleasant if not very warm day. Sitting in the shelter, out of the wind it was marvellous, the gulls soared above and it was dry. We walked out to the end of the pier amidst the carnival rides and groups of Spanish and French students practising their own language and not English and every one was happy and appeared at ease with the world. There is definitely a seaside atmosphere the moment you step off the train into the beautiful old, Victorian station.
The extras are the cockle and whelk stall and a gull atop a sign on the pier.
