EP21 Vastness: In Ocean Village Marina
(This image is a blip of the reflection in one of the huge silvery columns at the entrance to the hotel)
So yesterday after husband’s follow up appointment at the Spire Southampton, which was all good, we found the bus no. entitled ‘The 3’ back into town went past Ocean Village Marina. (All very confusing there are so many bus companies in Southampton with no. 3’. Something like: Red No 3, Blue No 3, Yellow No 3 and probably other No 3s).
I had intended to visit Ikea, so husband was happy when I suggested instead a light lunch at the Harbour Hotel. Our favourite (at the moment, anyway) ‘go to place’ for a drink or food. Maybe not at holiday time, but the Marina is quiet otherwise. Although the hotel seems to be doing really well.
I could take photographs all day here. The vastness of the view across and around the Marina to the new appartments (Jeremy Hunt has invested here*) Itchen Bridge, the small yachts, Ferries, Tugs, and monster Cruise Ships. Yesterday the ‘MSC Meraviglia’ (when it debuted in June 2017, it was the 4th largest cruise ship in the world, behind Royal Caribbean's) was in a nearby dock.
Brother and sister-in-law were luckily able to join us in the Sky Bar (fab views) at the last minute. Me and husband wanted a pizza. We were sad to be informed, due to the weather, they weren’t making pizza - the oven is out on the terrace. But, no problem, other goodies to choose from on the menu.
*Mr Hunt - who is Theresa May's richest Cabinet minister with a personal fortune of £14million - may have fallen foul of strict rules governing MPs's business interests.
The scandal came after he set up a company to buy seven luxury flats.
But he failed to register the firm with Companies House within the allotted time.
The oversight is a criminal offence punishable by a fine or up to two years in prison.
