Mobbed

My Dear Princess & Dear Fellows,

Day 4 of "In-Law Visit 2018" saw us at the zoo to meet a "mob" of meerkats. Er Indoors had booked the two of us, along with Feefs and the Nipper to get up close and personal with the little rascals.

Let me say this. They are no respecters of personal space. Basically, they clambered over all four of us, grunting and growling and rumbling and tumbling as they jumped from one lap to another and fell off in a very ungraceful manner.

They are A-DORE-ABLE.

The zoo keeper told us that they like to climb up people to keep an eye open for danger. Although the zoo mob have adapted to their nice safe life inside. Birds of prey, loud noises, helicopters... nothing bothers them. So they climb up you to check for danger and then... ignore it.

They have it figured out. They are cute. People bring them food.

Zoo meerkats are cocky meerkats.

Little Nipper was a bit freaked out at first. I do not think he was expecting them to be so full-on and in your face. Er Indoors meanwhile, was LOVING it. For some reason, they really took to her and she definitely got more meerkats in her lap than anyone else. They were lolling all over her like a meerkat sun-lounger. Eventually Nipper relaxed enough to let one sit on his head.

After the close encounter, we wandered a bit further around the zoo, and although we did not meet the giraffes up close today, we did go and see "Zahara" and "Zemu" and I have added an extra for the Princess.

It was a pretty good day on the whole for me, in fact. At lunchtime, Er Indoors needed a break from Shetland Dad and Feefs. More Shetland Dad really - he drives both women crazy and as a consequence they started getting snippy with each other too. I decided to take Er Indoors to the all-day breakfast place to relax and she LOVED it as much as I did. We spent an hour there, and she felt much happier.

I had the Eggs Benedict again. Which made me much happier.

I also managed to fit in "Avengers: Infinity War" this morning. I think I liked it. It's a bit hard to say. It is a LOT of film. Definitely there are some great bits in it. Perhaps it was too much film though. A lot happens and I feel like there wasn't really enough time for it all to register. But there are some funny bits, and lots of action and some really sad bits.

Funnily enough the bit that made me saddest though, was right at the beginning. It appears that Scarlet Witch and Vision have been hiding out in Edinburgh and the film features scenes filmed in the old town and in Waverley Station. At one point they are stood in front of a chippy and you can clearly see in the background a sign that says:

WE WILL DEEP-FRY YOUR KEBAB

- and I felt myself tearing up. Ah, Edinburgh. I miss you so.
