A visit to Oswaldtwistle Mills.
One of my favourite places in Lancashire is Oswaldtwistle Mills and so I travelled there on the train this mixed weathered morning.
It was cold and damp and cloudy but I wasn't going to let this deter my enthusiasm for a good wander and shop around the mills.
It cost £1.80 return which is better value than the bus service and these Northern trains are a reliable service.
My first port of call was the garden outlet where I found and bought a pink sedum plant, from which I will make some new plants from rooting the leaves. A pleasing bargain.
Then off to the Christmas shop, where I bought three pretty recycled glass bowls for Christmas presents. This whole area is a joy to shop in, with all the magnificent decorations and tempting gifts.
I had to be very self controlled in there or I 'd have gone a bit too spendy!
I braved the rain to visit the Nature area which has black swans, a heron and ducks of various kinds.
The late Summer plants in the gardens were still colourful along with the russet Autumn carpet of soggy leaves.
The big mill shop has a wonderful array of discount designer clothing, sports wear, shoes, The Works bookshop, Yankie candle gifts, Stockley Sweets, Craft materials, lighting and sewing machines.
There are a few coffee shops, clean loos and places to eat.
If any of you Blippers are visiting Blackburn or nearby, Oswaldtwistle Mills is well worth a visit.
It is even better at this time of year with the run up to Christmas.
