Today Toto went to the vets. Hardly an unusual occurrence for a pet you might think, but the last time he was there was 2011! He is never ill, never been in a fight,so up until 2011 he only went to get his vaccinations. Then, for some reason, we didn’t get the reminder in for him and when I finally got around to asking, I was told just to leave him be as he was 13. Well he is now 18 and we had noticed lately that he is slowing down - no surprise at his age. He is also finding it difficult to groom himself properly. So we took him for his first car journey in 7 years!
Result - blood tests show he has kidney disease which is almost expected at his age. He may also be getting a bit arthritic. He also got some fur cut off so he is not looking quite as dapper as he can. Good news is the vet thinks he could have a couple of years in him yet!
