Absolute Laze

When we first lived in Brazil, we had a favourite restaurant in Natal called Raízes (Roots). It replicated a traditional dinner that you might have had in one of the large fazenda houses in the Sertão. We later had the privilege of being invited to one and verifying that it was even more impressive in fact. Anyway, one thing we loved about it was the English version of the menu, explaining the concept; one phrase has stayed in our family ever since:

"...after which, nothing it is possible to do, but to sleep in the most absolute laze",
for which activity they provided hammocks in their garden.

Went to São Pedro do Corval, a village on the other side of the Lake, to try to visit Maria from the market, whose foot was crushed by her tractor; she's been in hospital in Lisbon, having skin grafts. Didn't know where she lived, but reckoned that if we ate in a local restaurant, we could find out. Sure enough, we did. And the food? Absolutely amazing, and as we were leaving, the owner pressed a bottle of their exclusive and excellent red on us. Total bill for three courses, plus coffee and wine: 32 euros for both of us. We definitely felt like sleeping in the most absolute laze after that, but visited Maria instead, who pressed a bag of her wonderful vegetables on us as we left.

When I saw this cat at the end of Maria's road, knew this had to be my blip.
