Statuesque

There was time for a short walk around Eger this morning, discovering a few streets and part of the Archbishop's Park which we hadn't covered before. In one corner we came across this impressive statue of the Hungarian writers Sándor Bródy and Géza Gárdonyi. Gárdonyi is particularly famous, being known as the Hermit of Eger. Then it was a quick coffee and off to the station, for the fairly long and fairly slow train back to Budapest. It went off a bit more smoothly than the journey out, where we had to change twice. This time we were on the direct train, so it was just a matter of sitting tight.

IP met us at the station. Great to see him - it's been five years. This time we took the trolley featured in this blip from five years ago, in order to get back to his flat which has a view of the Danube. There was a lot to catch up on, and we also had to get to know his wee dog Harry, and also had an opportunity to meet A over dinner. Food and drink were taken in copious quantities - hence I'm back blipping today.
