Patriotism- David Stirling
Over to Doune this afternoon with M coerced into acting as my model for mono Monday Patriotism photo.
It’s the memorial to David Stirling, founder of the SSA whom Field Marshal Montgomery, was quoted as saying: "The boy Stirling is quite mad, quite, quite mad. However, in a war there is often a place for mad people."
Before the Germans finally captured him and placed him in Colditz castle for the rest of the war the SAS had destroyed 250 enemy aircraft plus hundreds of vehicles and a huge quantity of stored supplies.
Stirling died in 1990 and he is buried on the shores of Loch Morar.
