On your marks, set, bang...

This brings back memories. The Dam Park Athletic Stadium in Ayr. Photo taken on my phone, late afternoon, light not good, taken through railings, but memories fresh as a daisy.

This is the track where I used to run as a member of Ayr Seaforth Athletic Club. Let's not worry about when ...... but I did run in yards! Usually 440 yards to be precise.

I actually won a couple of titles (one a national junior title) in my all too short career before finding sex and whisky, at least one of which wasn't good for me I was told. I don't believe that to this day.

It was a great time. Some great friends ran there: Cochrane (Cockie) Stewart, John Fergusson, Ros Bilson, Jimmy Young, Danny Brackenridge, Neil Duff, Rikki Taylor..My coach, Frank McCarvel, really went to town on our Sunday morning sessions in particular. Never happy until we were all moaning and vomiting over the track. Hopefully its been cleaned up. Those were the days....
