Day 303 - Opening Day

It seems to have taken years of planning and anticipation but today Wakefield's new library and museum opened their doors for the first time.

Luckily for me the new high tech library and musuem is situated in the building I now work in. I can see me spending alot of lunchbreaks in the library

I had the chance to take quick look round the museum and library at lunchtime. It was very impresive and saw potential for many a work day blip :0)

Grandad brought the boys through for storytime too, which from the sound of things they loved.

So back to todays blip. Whilst walking through the museum I spotted this old Prison door from Wakefield's High Security prison. Just seeing the door sent a shiver through me!

Wakefield Prison was founded in the 1590's. In the 1800's people were imprisoned for petty crimes as well as serious. With one prisoner, John Schofield, being imprisoned in 1802 for refusing to remove his hat. How things have changed!!!!!
