Red tulips
I think tulips have taken over for now. These red ones are in their second year, in a pot, and not as vigorous as last year, but still have a lovely colour which ranges from pink/purple to burnt red/orange. Other tulips from last year are flowering in the borders, but again some are not as good this time - on the shaded side of the garden probably about 30-40% have flowered, although on the sunny side it's more like 80-90%. I think we may lift the non-flowering bulbs later on, and replant with new ones in the autumn. Tulips are always a bit of a diminishing return, compared to daffodils, which increase for years before becoming unproductive through over-crowding.
I think I'm finally getting on top of the Spanish bluebells, which, although they don't look too bad, are not nearly as pretty as the native English bluebell, and seed prolifically; they'd crowd everything else out given the chance.
