Volunteers
It has been a full day at Waddesdon Manor today starting with coffee and cake for as many volunteers as could make it, this was then followed by a very interesting talk from our Conservation team - you would not believe what can and does attack fabrics as well as the damage done by people touching things. I then carried on for a full day in the House.
Waddesdon has a very good induction scheme for new volunteers which includes three days shadowing with the more experienced. Today I had a 'shadow' all day which was fun and interesting; we discovered that we had several friends in common - small world.
The day was further complicated by Lord R hosting a special reception for a large party including a visit to one of the exhibitions in the House so the permanent staff were a bit more on edge than usual; Volunteers mind less as we are not paid and if we weren't there the whole operation would cease to function - we are necessary.
During the coffee morning I just had to focus the camera that just happened to be in my bag on the reflective sunglasses of another Volunteer!
