Yes, it's Wednesday!
Today's walk was from Allendale Town, up (up, up, up, up) onto the moor tops and then along to the chimneys. These chimneys took waste from the Allendale smelt mill through large pipes stretching 3.5km up to the moors, to release the impurities away from the town. Both lead and silver were deposited on the walls of the flue pipes and small children went in to scrape these from the walls.
It was quite mild today and it was dry - hooray! The wind was wild on the moor top and Jennifer, the first person in the photo, looks as though she is about to be blown over. There were no injuries, apart from my blistered heel. Mutter, mutter.
I'm a bit stiff tonight..........
Lots of festival stuff to sort out and I'm about to stop and have an early night.
It was great to be out today, even if it was 11+ miles and Arth and Aggie are moaning on a bit.
