Maud Florence MacCormac 1910

Jo's mother, Z's grandmother aged about 3. From Bride Street in Dublin, a little before WW1. Tolstoy died that year, my dad was born and curious to relate Bridget Dowling eloped to London with Alois Hitler Jr., a kitchen porter at the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin and half-brother to Adolf. The couple later settled in Toxteth, Liverpool, Bridget's house being destroyed in the Liverpool Blitz in 1942. Alois had returned to Germany in 1941, remarried bigamously and sent word after the war that he was dead. (Dear Bridget, 'I am dead', he wrote, I suppose). She set up a house in Highgate and took in lodgers.
