Botanist and Cyclist

This mural of Hugh Wilson is so well deserved.
The man is so bloody important to Christchurch people who care about their environment.
Hugh has worked hard for years to re-establish a native plantation at Hinewai Reserve on Banks Peninsular - just an hour or so from town.
I remember seeing him biking through Hagley Park when I was a kid. He was a serious cyclist.
He is also a mate of Edmund and Peter Hilary. They went on a mad trip down the Ganges many years ago. The accompanying documentary as bloody good.
And he ain’t dead yet!
