A SHOT WITH IMPACT
I was not the only one to have a smashing time at Croft racing circuit on Saturday,
"After a successful return to Croft in 2011, more robust rallycross action is on the cards in 2012. Categories expected include Swifts, Hot Hatches and Supernationals right up to the flame-belching 450bhp Supercars" (quote taken from the official website) and it did not disappoint.
The action was fast, with nearly 50 races that day, each heat was only three laps of a short circuit including both tarmac and dirt.
Some of the 'Supernationals' Ford Fiesta's, Focus's, Escorts, Peugeot's and Subaru's etc were producing 600 bhp with a 0-60 in 2 1/2 seconds and 100 mph in 5 seconds, unbelievably fast.
My blip of the impact was caused by the car in front going sideways on the dirt, and the second car, being right on his bumper had to push him out of the way, this was just one of the many incidents.
Great fun, I've watched it on TV many times, but this was the first time I've attended a meeting, and now I can't wait for next season.
