The Arawhata

Time to leave Wanaka and start our journey home, via the West Coast for several days. As usual, you plan to leave early, but things take time so we got away around 11.

Fabulous day, so we took it slowly through Haast Pass, stopping for a few short walks, initial destination, the excellent Haast Pass visitor centre. Some learning, then lunch, and back on the road,. South to Jacksons, where I had been a few days ago. Got there late afternoon, in fact just after 4, by which time the Cray Pot (and the fresh blue cod) was closed. Never mind, did a walk, took lots of photos and around 6 we started north again, looking for a campsite.

Some eagle eyed spotting of a track led down to the Arawhata River. Where we parked up, got out the bikes, opened a wine, and enjoyed. What a fab location
