Cyclone

We went for donuts for breakfast from the Peter Pan Bakery on Manhattan Avenue (“Old School” the Hotel Barman called it – and it was), ate them in McCarron Park and then took the long subway ride to Coney Island – where we strolled along the Boardwalk, went on the Wonder Wheel and the Cyclone and ate chilli dogs from Nathan’s (and funnel cake – and Beck had fried shrimp, she doesn’t really do hot dogs.) After all that we were quite pleased to have the return journey to rest-up on. Back Uptown, we went to Kith – another trendy shop you have to queue up to get into – and then wandered through Washington Square Park and Greenwich Village to the High Line – a disused Elevated Railway line that has been repurposed as a walkway and urban park. It also leads up quite neatly to Madison Square Gardens, where we were off to see the Knicks lose to the Detroit Pistons by six points. Still, we all enjoyed both the game and the spectacle before dragging ourselves back to the Hotel and ordering in another pizza…
