Over the garden gate

Our visitors left this morning and had a trouble-free drive back to London. What a wonderful few days we have had, with perfect weather. Today has been sunny and the sea calm.

The extra is another of Anwick's Pants. This one was gifted to the town by Alderman Adam Robertson in 1890. It stands only a short distance from the other one but is very different in design. It has two drinking fountains and a trough.

I went to find a Well which was marked on the map, but it was behind one of the Duke of Northumberland's high walls, as is most of Alnwick and the surrounding area actually. That William the Conquerer has a lot to answer for, handing out our country to his friends, who have held onto it every since. Land ownership on this scale is wrong . . . well I think so anyway.
