Waiting in the front of the queue
at EuroTunnel Calais.
We had to pick up the wine we bought on our way to Connelles from the Calais Wine Superstore. There was a bit of a commotion at the roundabout on the shop corner and we weren't allowed through. A horse lost its trailer and another lorrie was searched for stowaways, both on the roundabout. The Port Police and the Gendarmerie were not interested in providing information for an alternative route. We had to find another way into an isolated industrial estate with our satnav insisting that we go back to the cursed roundabout and migrants loitering at every roundabout and standing around nonchalantly in the middle of the street.
We got there eventually, got our wine and got back on the motorway via another route. We were at the terminal early and was offered an earlier crossing, which was welcomed.
We left Les Manoir des deux Amants at 9:20 and was home at 16:05. Delivered a wheelbarrow full of wine to the neighbours, drank loads of water and relaxed with a glass of red.
