I think....

it's a linnet but possibly a redpoll. We have a bit of an infestation of them in our garden at the moment and between them, the siskins and the goldfinches they are going through the niger seeds at an alarming rate.
Managed to get some garden tidying done today. Treated myself to a new camellia ( ooh, get me, living the life)so fingers crossed it will survive. Our soil is mostly clay and so I've had to dig in some ericaceous compost in the hope it will survive. This is Alan Titchmarsh signing off...
