Measuring up.
Bloody auditors. We've had them in for almost three weeks now, trying to run us ragged.
However, sometimes there can be a bit of humour. Apparently, in order to claim a certain tax allowance, our car-park has to be a size that sits within certain limits. The auditors, being auditors, challenged us to prove that the size of our car-park as stated by us was correct. We basically told them to take a running jump, and having successfully concealed the existence of official scale drawings of the building (and the car park), suggested they measure it.
So they only went and sent the poor lowly junior off into the car park with a short tape-measure to do just that...
There was an element of a wind-up in all this - we and the senior auditors conspiring to give their junior an initiation rite. Strange folks, auditors.
It's not a new concept of course -when I first went to University (a long time ago), the chemistry tutor asked me to go to the lab next door and ask for a box of atomic weights.
I didn't fall for that one though.
