Clever Mirrah!

Mirrah gave birth on Thursday afternoon. She was only supposed to have one or two puppies, but managed to give birth to five healthy she puppies. No good for us, because we want a boy, but very cute nonetheless. Carol invited us over this afternoon to ooh and aah at these beautiful girls. We also said goodbye to the beautiful Boomer (who we've only met twice, but has already Weimeranered his way into our hearts). He's 13.5 years old and probably won't still be around when we next pop in. He's ailing, the poor old guy. I shed a few tears when I kissed him goodbye and stroked his velvety ears. Very reminiscent of saying goodbye not so long ago to my beautiful Cousteau. Seeing Mum with her puppies reminded me of the lovely Lenci (Cousteau's sister), who passed away just over a year before Cousteau.

Still, looking forward and starting to prepare our home for our future puppy, who was born today in the Snowy Mountains. We won't get to meet him until he's 8 weeks old, but Carol has vouched for the breeder, and the mum and dad are gorgeous and have great temperaments, so we're hopeful our boy will do too. We'll get pics along the way.

This morning, we went to IKEA and braved the crowds. We knew exactly what we were after, so it was relatively pain free. Hopefully Mr B won't spit the dummy while he's attempting to construct the day bed we purchased for our spare room. It has come in four separate boxes, so I'm not holding my breath ...

We're watching some Commonwealth Games, tummies full and fire on for the first time this year.
