Davaar Island from Slaty Farlan

12.3C fairly cloudy then brightening through the afternoon. Wind ENE/E to 21 mph with gusts to 34 mph.

Fergus and I went for a walk out to the old shipyard and beyond after lunch. There were Gannets diving in the channel by Davaar island.

We came back home round the esplanade and went to the harbour to see what naval vessel was there.

MPV Minna was at the new quay. She was built at Ferguson's Shipyard, Port Glasgow and was launched in 2003. She is 42 metres in length and has a gross tonnage of 781. She has a crew of 15, a top speed of 14 knots and is used mainly for inshore enforcement tasks. Currently Marine Scotland Compliance has three ships in its fleet of Marine Protection Vessels (MPVs), the other two being the Jura and the Hirta.
