All smiles

Unlike last weeks The Glums photo. This is a happier shot and an even older one!
Starting on the left the smallest is my mothers youngest brother. He's still alive  and very rich. |Next my cousin who emigrated to the US and dropped off the radar for almost 30 years until I found her son by chance on the internet , she's also my Godmother but she died a few years back. She was a nurse but married a rich bloke.Next is my mother with the ribbon, she died in 2009. She worked all her life in the hospitality industry. Beside her my other uncle who also died.He was a less fortunate soul and you can see the sadness in his eyes. Then there is my grannie, she was in last weeks picture only she's a lot younger in this one.My granny worked at the herring gutting and at service but after she got married, she ran the croft. There are also the two proverbial collie dogs. The shot was taken at the back of our old thatched house and note that it was the individual panes of glass that opened! My grandfather had put them on hinges so you only opened the bottom two panes. The stones above them are to weigh the thatch down, the thatch was made of rushes and replaced every 5 or so years.. Now perhaps the mathematicians among you can work out roughly how old this shot is. My mother was the eldest so she is a tad taller than her brother next to her so Im thinking she would be about 9 and she died in 2009 aged 80 so can some brainbox work out how long ago that photo was taken.
