Patterns in Stone
Today as, predicted by the weather forecast, was duller. We went into Lochgilphead so that I could do some family history research. I had previously contacted the Argyll and Bute archivist, who is based in Lochgilphead, about gaining access to local parish records for Kilfinan. The research I was wanting to do concerned my gran's uncle, who sadly was a pauper patient in the Lunatic Asylum in Lochgilphead. The parish records recorded which residents of the parish were pauper patients in this institution and therefore the responsibility of the parish who paid for their treatment there.I found the yearly entries for this relative and the final entry when his death was recorded, his death meant that he no longer was the responsibility of the parish.
We spent this afternoon we walking up Kilmartin Glen visiting all my favourite prehistoric sites and having afternoon tea at the Kilmartin House Museum cafe. Coffee and walnut cake was the order of the day, lovely. We then walked back down the glen to collect the car from the car park.
The walk down the glen was lovely and peaceful and was a nice way to finish off an interesting day :-)
