Daddy's Little Girl

This is an old Father's day picture and poem for my husband, John and it was drawn and written by Lisa, his lovely daughter, for her dad when she was young. Her birthday was Saturday, and I had picked out a card that said, in that Hallmark way, what a precious little girl she was and the lovely woman she had become and happy birthday. My husband had a severe stroke several years ago and has chronic dementia so he lives at Heritage Park in Bradenton. So I tell Lisa that I try to think what would he like to say if he could, so when I tell him this he tears up and it is so touching and sweet to see how much he loves her. Glad to be able to help him share what's is inside but cannot get out. That and a check for getting the present she really wants. Priceless. So when I see that drawing it reminds me of love shared over the years.
My dad died when I was 15 so missed that part of the dad-daughter timeline. Grateful that losing him through death rather than indifference was a new revelation as I write.Love blip for getting a journal going for me.
