Stromness Gallery

What a complete surprise the Pier Arts Centre in Stromness is. Well it was to us.

Layla told me that they had a world class collection of British Modernist work but to be honest you can't imagine a tiny gallery tucked away at the end of the world having that many decent works of art, I thought she was over egging it a bit but...........

In this small but beautifully designed gallery you can see some of the best work by the likes of Barbara Hepworth, Ben Nicholson, Lowry, Graham Sutherland, Paolozzi the list goes on and on.

A fantastic place with really helpful staff and a collection that any major city would be proud to own.

A real highlight and well worth visiting...we loved it.
