Art is supposed to make you feel something

I brought my camera to school :O. I've never done that before (or maybe I have and I just don't remember?). In any case, doing this 100 day project I realized that unless I bring my camera to school I wouldn't be photographing anything exciting. Just Jason and I playing video games and eating Jamaican food (yep, that's what I'm currently doing lol). So I brought it to school to see what I could photograph. I was still shy and only photographed things in my classroom. 

There were two pictures I was torn between today. One that was more artsy fartsy of this bulletin board and was all angled and stuff. And there was this one. Straight forward. But you could read everything that is there.

The behaviors in my classroom were getting out of control until I went to a workshop and learned about RULER- a social-emotional learning curriculum that explicitly teaches students how to recognize, understand, label, express, and regulate emotions. I started it in my classroom and even paused all other instruction for this. It was a -big- deal. The kids took is really seriously and when it came time to come up with strategies these are the amazing things they said. 


When I see this picture it truly makes my heart sing and isn't art supposed to make you feel something?
